With its cinematic stage design and a play of light and shadow, TWINS and TWINS II inhabit a world where disciplines converge in a finely tuned interplay. 

These works bring together the languages of urban dance, contemporary dance, mime, movement theatre, cinematic composition, and animation — interwoven into a immersive performance.

Originating as a research trajectory in 2009, TWINS evolved into a fully realised production, later followed by TWINS II. Both works not only engaged a professional ensemble but also integrated a select group of young performers aged 8–16.

TWINS (2013)—a blend of flamenco, contemporary dance, hip hop, movement theatre, and mime. Set in a movie-like, cinematic decor, I drew inspiration from my Jewish grandfather and his twin sister during WWII, exploring resilience and survival. Having grown up immersed in film and TV by my father,         a British film and TV director and cameraman, I was deeply influenced by directors like Tim Burton and the dark humor of English TV series such as Bottom, Monty Python  and Fawlty Towers.                                   Turning pain into humor, we explored the deep parallels between Jewish and Arabic culture.

In TWINS II, (2020) the creative methodology departed deliberately from traditional frameworks: no performers or musicians with a flamenco background were engaged. Instead, the work centred on the physical and musical vocabularies of a breakdancer, house dancer and a singer – songwriter. This approach sought not the literal representation of flamenco, but rather the evocation of its essence — allowing its pulse, structure, and emotive intensity to reverberate beneath the surface of the choreography. While combining it with movement theatre & puppetry.
