De- and Recode

De- and Recode explores the deciphering and rebuilding of flamenco dance through the lens of the brain’s neuroplasticity—an interplay of established and emerging neural patterns. The work reveals an “old” pattern (traditional flamenco) at its core, overlaid with an outer layer that signifies the birth of new connections (contemporary dance), mirroring the brain’s inner and outer structures where novel pathways are formed. It is a living embodiment of transformation and growth.

Twins

Twins, a blend of flamenco, contemporary dance, hip hop, movement theatre, and mime. Set in a movie-like, cinematic decor, I drew inspiration from my Jewish grandfather and his twin sister during WWII, exploring resilience and survival. Having grown up immersed in film and TV by my father, a film and TV director and cameraman, I was deeply influenced by directors like Tim Burton and the dark humor of English TV series such as Bottom and Fawlty Towers. Turning pain into humor, we explored the deep parallels between Jewish and Arabic culture.

De Flamencoklok

The story follows the Flamencoklok, the lonely clock that counts in twelves (just like certain styles within flamenco) and longs to make friends—but everyone seems too rushed. Created as a playful exploration of time and our hurried society, the performance also introduces audiences to a variety of world music and dance styles, including flamenco.

Firefly

FIREFLY is a dance performance where flamenco meets contemporary  & hiphop movement, exploring human vulnerability, wonder, and inner conflict. An intimate and poetic experience, full of imagination.

Koning der Kaasvlinders

The King of the Cheese Butterflies serves as a metaphor for dictatorship, prejudice, oppression, and the failure to understand one another. The King rules his people with a harsh, unfeeling hand. Yet one of his subjects, Madame Wasp, gradually manages to thaw his frozen heart, teaching him empathy and compassion. This contemporary musical fairytale, infused with humour and absurdity, offers a playful but poignant reflection on society and the dynamics of power.

From Generation to Generation

Two generations of artists invite you into the world of Flamenco.

We bring together three artistic disciplines that are inseparably intertwined: guitar, dance, and song.

The ensemble is made up of two dancers, a singer, a guitarist, and a singer-songwriter – all highly expressive stage performers.

Aroma del Mundo

A short performance by Aroma del Mundo created for festivals and music venues, blending flamenco, hip hop, and Japanese dance.

This research project explored the shared origins of flamenco and hip hop music and dance. Both art forms were born on the streets, shaped by ethnic minorities, extreme poverty, and oppression. At the same time, they are deeply grounded, earthy expressions of passion.
