AroMa DeL MuNdO (2010)

A short performance by Aroma del Mundo created for festivals and music venues, blending flamenco, hip hop, and Japanese dance.

This research project explored the shared origins of flamenco and hip hop music and dance. Both art forms were born on the streets, shaped by ethnic minorities, extreme poverty, and oppression. At the same time, they are deeply grounded, earthy expressions of passion.

In this performance, oppression is expressed through multiple channels – engaging the senses on different levels.

The project was presented at Bruis Festival Maastricht, Lleno de Flamenco at Paradiso Amsterdam, and Dance Valley Spaarnwoude, and was made possible with the support of CODE043.
